A buoyant Lance Justice returns to Melbourne today, seemingly still leading with a lap to travel as the Smoken Up harness racing hearing stretches into a second week.

The defence's star witness, Kentucky-based veterinary science professor Thomas Tobin, testified via video link that urine was a "highly flawed forensic sample" when it came to DMSO in standardbred horses. Smoken Up returned a test of 25.8mg per litre from the New Zealand Racing Laboratory in Auckland, and 25.2mg in the B sample tested in Brisbane. The recognised threshold is 15mg.
