After finally getting my V-Star back from Lexington Custom Cycles, I told Billy at LCC that they could take it to the Midwest Mayhem Car Show in Masterson Station Park in late July 2011. The bike wasn’t show-worthy at that point in my opinion, but it would give Billy a chance to show off his custom paint.

I hung out at the show the first day for several hours before heading home. I’d been gone about an hour and I received a call from Billy letting me know that the people in the booth next to them backed a trailer into my motorcycle and knocked it over. That’s just what I wanted to hear… after having my bike in the shop for six months, it just got hit.

I went back to the fairgrounds to check on things. The girl was there and was a nervous wreck. She apologized emphatically, told me she had insurance and would do whatever it took to fix my bike. I picked the motorcycle up off the ground – no one seemed to bother to do that. Once it was upright, I saw that she hit the bike on the left side and it fell onto the right side. Nothing too major, but the rear fender that was just hand crafted and had some expensive custom paint was cracked.

There were several chrome pieces scuffed up and dented, the rear fender cracked, but fortunately the handlebars kept the tank from making contact with the asphalt.

The people were so nice and apologetic that I decided to be stupid and not get a police report. I got the girl’s name and contact info and took the bike home. That was the last I heard from her.

Now, I have a court date set for September 30 because she failed to respond to my countless attempts to contact her. I’ll keep you guys posted on what happens. In the meantime, Insane Custom Rides is already working on the repairs.
