Champion Ringman Title Added to Ohio Auctioneers Accomplishments
Auctioneer Peter D. Gehres was awarded the honor of 2012 Michigan Ringman Champion on January 25, 2012 at the Michigan State Auctioneer's Association Winter Convention in Lansing, Michigan.

Auctioneer Peter D. Gehres was awarded the honor of 2012 Michigan Ringman Champion on January 25, 2012 at the Michigan State Auctioneer's Association Winter Convention in Lansing, Michigan. The judges for the 2012 Championship included 2010 International Auctioneer Champion Eli Detweiler Jr., Santo (Sam) Grasso, Greg Peterson (aka Machinery Pete), National Auctioneer Foundation Trustee David Helmer and Kim Narhi.
This was the fourth time Gehres competed in Michigan Ringman Championship and the 20th auctioneer or ringman contest he has entered. Peter has also won the Ohio Junior Bid Calling contest in January 2006, the Michigan Auctioneer Championship in January 2010 and the title of Indiana Champion Auctioneer in November 2011.
"In 2012 I look forward to representing Michigan at both the International Auctioneers Championship in Spokane, WA and the World Automobile Auctioneers Championship in Orlando, FL," Gehres said. "Michigan has a special place in my heart and has played an important role in my development as an auctioneer and ringman."
In addition to competing in auctioneer and ringman contests across the country, Gehres recently completed a term on the Michigan Auctioneers Association Board of Directors as the first director to serve from outside the state. He is also currently serving a second term as the treasurer of the Ohio Auctioneers Association .
Gehres is a first generation auctioneer and Realtor currently based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the Vice President of Auction Operations for United Country Gryphon Realty & Auction Group , the owner of Belhorn Auctions and the co-founder of The Super Auction event. He is also a professional speaker and teaches at The Ohio Auction School, Reppert School of Auctioneering and state and national conventions.

A week prior he took first place in the North Dakota contest. "I just don't know what to think," he said of the back-to-back wins. "A lot of goals and dreams came together." It's an honor he shares with his father, Vince, who won the contest in 1997.

July 9, 2008, Nashville, TN – Alex Belcher of Buncomb, Illinois was awarded the prestigious title of International Ringman Champion at the 59th International Auctioneers Association Conference and Show in Nashville. Twenty-two competitors participated in this year’s “ringman” competition. This is the second year that the IRC competition has taken place. A 1999 graduate of Missouri Auction School, Alex has been a full-time professional auctioneer for the past 9 years. Alex began his auction career with Joe Ollis Auction Service LLC out of auction school and purchased the business in 2007. Mr. Belcher considers himself a “cars, cattle and real estate auctioneer” but his auction services also include estates and farm machinery and equipment. The five finalists in this year’s competition included: Wayne D. Thorn, Prattville, AL (First Runner-Up); Santo F. Grasso, Baltimore, MD (Second Runner-Up); Emmette Barran, CCIM, Decatur, AL; Phillip Richardson, Maynardville, TN.
