Star Karen Akers. Akers will present an all-Cole Porter program, which is simply titled "Akers Sings Porter," Sept. 22-Oct. 24. Paula West and the George Mesterhazy Quartet will then hold court Oct. 27-Nov. 14. The year will conclude with Algonquin favorite Andrea Marcovicci, who will celebrate the Johnny Mercer centenary in her latest act. Marcovicci will offer "Skylark: Marcovicci Sings Mercer" Nov. 17-Dec. 26. The jazz group Monday Off will return to Birdland next month. The four-person group, includes Amy Cervini, Melissa Dye, Richard Roland and Raymond Sage, who will play the famed Manhattan venue Sept. 6 at 6:30 PM. The foursome will be backed by the Monday Off Band: Michael Cabe on piano, Mark Lau on bass and Ernesto Cervini on drums. Concertgoers can expect jazz, vocalese and country swing. There will also be performances this fall by Eric Michael Gillett (Sept.1-2), Patty Ascher (Sept.3-4), La Tanya Hall (Sept.14), Derek Keeling (Sept.20), Will and Anthony Nunziata (Sept.21, Oct.5), Yanna Avis (Sept.29), Karen Mason (Oct.4), Valerie Lemon (Oct.11), Gregory Generet (Oct.12), Raissa Katona Bennett (Oct.19), Irene Altman (Oct.25), Amanda Green (Nov.1), Deborah Lippmann (Nov.2), Eden Espinosa (Nov.8), Townshend, who authored book, music and lyrics for the Tony-winning musical The Who's Tommy, revealed in his blog that the new musical is being created for outdoor and arena performance. Talks are currently underway with New York producers for the musical, which will premiere in concert in 2011. Songs from Floss will be featured on a 2010 album from The Who. Kilpatrick will star in the title role with Christy Baggett as Betty Blake, Natalie Barrow as Ziegfeld's Favorite and Chris McDaniel as Clem Rogers. The cast also features Becky Simmons, Dixie Light, Priscilla Curtis, Megan Reardon, Sims Lamason, Jennifer Smiles, Katie Borden, Brett Parker, Brad Southards, Jeremy Wood and Josh Donahue.
