Columbus man accused of impregnating 12-year-old in his care
A Columbus man accused of impregnating a 12-year-old girl in his care was ordered held without bond Wednesday in Columbus Recorders Court.
Larrie Scott, 31, faces four counts of aggravated child molestation and one other sexually related count. Under investigation since September, Scott was arrested Tuesday after police received results from a DNA test, Detective Mark Richards testified.
The case stems from a Sept. 6 report of a sexual assault. Richards said he responded to the hospital on that day and spoke with the girls aunt, who told Richards she suspected the girl was pregnant. An over-the-counter pregnancy test confirmed it.
The girl was interviewed two days later. Eight-months pregnant at the time, she told authorities that Scott had molested her since she was in the fourth grade, Richards said. She indicated that it was more than 20 times, he added.
Richards said he then interviewed Scott, who denied the accusations. Scott suggested that another man might be responsible for molesting the girl.
Police took a DNA sample from Scott, which was then sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, Richards said.
The 12 year olds child, a girl, was born weeks later. A DNA sample was taken from the child and submitted for testing, the detective added.
On Jan. 19, police received the results of the DNA test indicating theres a 99.99 percent chance of Scott being the infants father. Arrest warrants were then issued for Scott, Richards said.
Several children lived in the same home as the 12-year-old during the time of the allegations. All the children, including the 12-year-old and her child, are currently in different foster homes, Richards said.
More charges against Scott are pending, he said.

A Columbus Recorders Court judge on Monday ordered a man accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl held on $20,000 bonds.
Antonio B. Wallace, 23, faces charges of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Authorities allege he touched the girl, with whom he lived, several times late at night over the past four months.
Police learned of the allegations Jan. 23 and arrested Wallace on Friday.
Officers interviewed him that day at the Columbus Public Safety Center, Detective Valerie Holder said.
He stated that he knew why he was at the police department, Holder added. He denied all the allegations against him.
Wallace pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday.
According to Holder, Wallace lived with the girl and several others in a home in the Jordan-Johnson area.
Wallace began inappropriately touching the girl in September.
Waiting until late at night, Wallace would wake the girl and take her to the bathroom.
The girl told her mother and grandmother about the allegations Jan. 23.
They took the girl to the hospital, where police became involved, Holder said.
Under questioning by public defender Charles Lykins, Holder said the evidence against Wallace is the girls statement and that of another child, which corroborates the girls story.
He stated all he knew is the victim would be awoken by Mr. Wallace and taken to the bathroom, Holder said of the other child.
A woman who lives at the home said in court that Wallace couldnt have reached the girls sleeping spot without others in the house seeing him.
Judge Michael Joyner then found probable cause to bind the case over to Superior Court.
