BAE supports counter-IED organization
ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- BAE Systems has been included in a new contract from the U.S. Department of Defense's Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization.
In the contract BAE will have the opportunity to bid for support service task orders from the organization.
The five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract carries a value of about $900 million for all awardees.
"This contract is critical to protecting our uniformed men and women in harm's way," said Scott Black, vice president and general manager for Global Mission Solutions at BAE Systems Support Solutions.
"We have a strong record of performance serving JIEDDO and we're ready to continue to support its mission as needed."
BAE and its subcontractors will offer services such as research, analysis, training, operations support and information technology support.
The work under the contract will be conducted at company facilities in Virginia as well as at military sites overseas.
BAE says it has provided services to JIEDDO since 2006.
