&Ldquo;Those guys are your friends, so it going to be different for me,” Anderson said. “But I play on this team. If one of them has the ball, I have to tackle them. They know that, and they’re going to try to juke me, truck me, whatever it is, they’re going to try and get in that end zone, and I have to stop them.” Those players include junior quarterback Shaun Rutherford and sophomore receiver Isaiah Battle, both teammates of Anderson last season at Blinn. Rutherford, who was a receiver at Blinn, ran for a team-best 82 yards in the Bobcats’ 50-10 season-opening loss at Texas Tech last Saturday, a game where they jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Rutherford was just 5 of 12 throwing for 38 yards, but two of those completions went to Battle for 27 yards. “The bulk of the routes and completed passes were in front of us; there was only one that got behind us,” defensive secondary coach Alex Grinch said. “We’re trying to keep the ball in front, but when the ball is completed in front of us, we have to get them to the ground. In most cases, it wasn’t a missed tackle, it was a lack of a tackle attempt. “I’m completely confident,” Anderson said. “I’m confident in our potential. I’m confident in everything we can do. We can do it. That’s the deal the coaches were harping and the players are harping on. A lot of times, from the secondary standpoint, we were there to make the plays, and we’ve just got to make them.
