Little did Sherrill Dailey know when she began dancing at age 5 that she would someday dance in the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Dailey, 21, of Martinsville, is a senior at Clemson University, where she is captain of the university’s Tiger Dancers Team. When the Clemson football team competes against West Virginia on Wednesday in Miami, Dailey will be close to the action. The dance team will accompany the band during the pre-game show, pep rallies and parades in South Beach and Miami. Dailey is spending an entire week in Miami, which included New Year’s Eve in Daytona Beach. After the game on Wednesday, the band and dancers will participate in a parade at Universal Studios, she said. “It’s the best way to end the senior year ever,” Dailey said. At the beginning of the season, no one had any idea that Clemson would get to participate in something like this, she added. The 250-member band and dance team will do a pre-game routine in front of about 80,000 people at the Orange Bowl, Dailey said. The five-minute routine consists of the band and dance team running out to a music video and also performing the university’s fight song and alma mater. Performing in front of large crowds is nothing new for Dailey, who performed at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship football game in Charlotte, N.C., earlier this season. “I thought Martinsville High School crowds were big,” but playing at full pro-football stadiums, “it’s insane,” said Dailey, a 2008 MHS graduate. Dailey was in the marching band during her time at Martinsville High School. While in the band, she played the clarinet and was section leader. She also was a football cheerleader. Her experience in band and cheerleading prepared her for the college dance team.West Coast Dance - News

Alameda, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2011
West Coast Dance Theater, located in Alameda, announces they are offering dance classes to the young and old from three years old all the way up to adults. Dance has been proven to be an effective way to lose weight, stay fit, tone down one?s body and stay cheerful. It awakens the soul, is uplifting and rejuvenating. ?People are now looking for ways to achieve wellness for all age groups,? says Marnell Xavier of West Coast Dance Studio. ?Parents are also bringing that notion to their kids and are letting them enjoy an enriching and fun activity while staying healthy.
